Before starting any diet, it is advisable to visit the Nutritionist with the following list of recent tests, that is, no older than 6 months, maximum 1 year. Once a year I always recommend getting checked, especially if you have risk factors such as a family history of major diseases (diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancer), hypertension, etc.
The tests I recommend are the following:
- Urine test
- Complete blood count with differential
- Protein electrophoresis
- Blood glucose
- Ferritin
- Serum creatinine
- AST, ALT, GAMMA GT
- Total bilirubin
- Total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides
- Uric acid
- FT3, FT4, TSH
- Homocysteine
- Vitamin D
This way you are really thoroughly examined. Finally, remember that blood tests have two major limitations:
- They examine only what happens at the extracellular level, while metabolism occurs at the intracellular level. This limitation is overcome by the hair mineralogram.
- They tell us little or nothing about the physiology of the organ they intend to study, while they are tests that investigate the pathology of the organ.
Therefore, they tell us little about subclinical, pre-pathological dysfunctions that are much more widespread, deeply impact the quality of life of the person, and whose correction is the true meaning of Prevention. For this reason, I like to define my work as "the Medicine of the day before".
